WELCOME!    ようこそ

It gives me great pleasure to welcome you to the Registration Site for the meeting of the International Academy of Estate and Trust Law which will take place in Tokyo between 19 and 23, 2019.

President-Elect, Florentino Carreño, is putting together a stimulating academic program.  This year, in response to comments received from Academicians (which are always welcome) we promise to leave ample time for open discussion.

Our hotel, The Westin Tokyo is located in the Ebisu Garden Place Tower, one of Tokyo’s most modern and refined areas and convenient to many shopping and dining options.

Our Closing Banquet this year will be at Happo-en. This unique venue is a hidden garden in the vicinity of Minato-ku, Tokyo. It was built in the early 17th century (Edo Period) and was reconstructed by Fusanosuke Kuhara in 1915. Revealed by its name, Happō-en is a garden with beautiful views. This garden is a home of Bonsai, Maple, and Cherry trees. Most Bonsai trees in this garden are over 100 years old and one of the oldest is 520 years old.
Our travel team at CrowdControl Events has put together a collection of exciting optional tours.  Options include learning to create your own Bonsai, a tour of secret historic Tea Houses at the National Museum and a chance to see the Grand Sumo Tournament.  The tours have been curated with the Academicians in mind and offer some unique opportunities not available to the general public.

As an added bonus this year, we will offer two opportunities to travel outside Tokyo on a pre and post conference tour. Both tours include the opportunity to ride on the infamous Bullet Train.

I look forward to seeing you all there.

Ellen Harrison
President
